If you've ever traveled in Africa, had a computer virus, or both, you will likely find this short book to be a splendid one-sitting read.Juxtaposing and connecting the bleeding edge of high tech and way-out-there surrounds of nature, this story poses several sci-fi-worthy questions, among them: When do human creations escape from the control of their creators into the realm of the wild?
Rich, descriptive imagery and never-over-the-top authentic details abound. However, I did find a few of the highly specific references about Africa to be somewhat inaccessible. On the other hand, this may spark your curiosity; and if you've traveled in Botswana, you may instead delight in recognizing these particulars.
Sci-Fi or Sly-Fi?... Set in the present, enlisting only technology that will be familiar, this is sci-fi on the sly -- the kind of story which you can start, fully follow, and finish during a quiet cocktail hour. But it's also a story which nonetheless equips you in the end for a dinner conversation ranging from the intrepid to the prophetic -- enabling you to engage not only your twenty-something world-traveling niece, but also your invited guest with the PhD in bioinformatics.

Raindrops a scifi short story based in Botswana Okavango region eBook Mike KingdomHockings Reviews
A very short read about an infectious computer virus. Interesting premise and details. It takes place in an unlikely location which adds to the narrative.
Well written and descriptive, even though some of the technical stuff was a little bit over my head. Nevertheless, it's a good read; I'm looking forward to more from this author.
If you don't have time for a novel but need something to read, take a look at this short, sharp story set in the heat and dust of Botswana. I wouldn't normally choose sci-fi but this little tale caught my eye and I'm glad it did!
